I was briefing the students of Cohort 4 of the "Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language" last week at IPGM-KBA (formerly known as IPBA). They are about to graduate and be posted to schools to begin their new career as a Japanese Language teacher.
I have been doing this for the past 3 cohorts. Each time, I asked myself how could I enhance the knowledge and skills that they have gained from the 15-month training in order to be an effective teacher in school. The key to that, I realised, was 'making the right decision in their P&P'. How? By having the right information at the right time.
Thus, at the briefing last week, I gave them
a) the likely scenerio of the Japanese Language Education (particulary in the secondary education) for 2010,
b) our (JFKL) collaborations with the Ministry & its current status
c) the supports available to teachers, students and schools.
However, I also realised that these information has to be updated often and not just at graduation ceremony. Thus, the birth of this blog.
In addition, to the latest happenings around the Japanese language education, I will also talk and share my thoughts and experience in teaching Japanese to Malaysian students in this blog. I look forward to your comments and suggestions too.
